I had the pleasure of attending the Overland Expo East this year in Asheville, North Carolina. I met my Vichus and Bean down there, and we had a great weekend. It was amazing to see how many people are into this pastime and all the equipment that is out there. I talked to a lot of people and learned a lot, not only about the equipment needed to overland, but also about my vehicle. I can’t wait to bring the whole family down next year. You can see in the first set of pics, clearly what I’m interested in! The vehicles were epic and I was able to really get a grasp on the direction I am going to take my JKU build.
This ambulance conversion is pretty nice! Hmmm….
I love this Defender. I look forward to seeing the adventures this on is going to take.
Nice classic Defender.
Military trucks are always cool!
Mogs all over the place!
I like this setup.
More military sweetness.
Now that’s how it’s done! MOG!
Old school Taco looking proper.
New School Taco looking proper.

Econoline overlander? Nice!
That pop top tho! I’m a little jelly!
I think Vichus was ready to squat in this one.
A little pano of the event.
If I had the dough, a Vanagon with a Subie engine would be in my stable.

I can see a Disco in my future.
More pop top action!
My JKU needs this conversion, but my pocketbook says no.
Old school meets new school! International Scout with a supercharged LS. WHAT!
If I had more vision, I would’ve snagged up Vichus’ old TJ. Maybe next time.
Mogs everywhere!
Camel Trophy guys were representing hard! Watching these videos as a youngster is what made me want to go off-roading.
Could this be the ultimate overlanding vehicle?
The next set of pics are from Bean’s perspective.
Camel Tent guys showing the frame system on their tents. I was blown away when I saw it.
A heated Hillenberg yurt with a Four Dog stove made the cool NC mountain nights very warm!

This is so awesome! 🙂 That trip was SO much fun!
